Description
This one-of-a-kind DVD features an in-depth look at the life and art of one of Aikido’s most prominent masters, Christian Tissier, seventh dan. Having started Aikido as a boy in France in 1962, Tissier spent eight years in Japan at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo training with many of the art’s finest masters. On his return to his native France, he brought back a new type of Aikido that soon captured the imagination of the Aikido world in his country and practitioners across Europe. Tissier is currently the main figure in the FFAAA organization, one of the two great Aikido associations in France. He is the only foreign instructor to have taught at the International Aikido World Congress.
Contents:
In-depth interview with Christian Tissier
Stanley Pranin interviews Christian Tissier about his early years in Aikido in France, his arduous journey to Japan in 1969 aboard the Trans-Siberian Express, and his first impressions of Japan and the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. Tissier goes on to describe his training and relationships with several of the greats of Aikido from a por-ido era including Seigo Yamaguchi, Second Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba, Kisaburo Osawa, and several of the junior instructors. Tissier gives lucid and innovative answers to questions about his own training philosophy, the nature of the martial art, and his vision of the future of Aikido.
Highlights of the Aiki Expo 2005 Seminar
This DVD also highlights from various Christian Tissier seminars held at Aiki Expo 2005 in Los Angeles. His lucid teaching method and close-up camera work make seminar instruction of great value to Aikido practitioners.

The end of this program is the dynamic public demonstration given by Tissier at Expo Aiki which met with great public success. In addition to his spectacular and graceful Aikido, Tissier demonstrates a number of kata from the Kashima Shin-ryu sword school that he mastered while in Japan.
