Description
Shoji Nishio Sensei is one of aikido’s most innovative teachers, incorporating elements of his vast experience in judo, karate, iaido, and jojutsu into his martially oriented interpretation of aikido. Nishio Sensei also developed an elaborate series of bokken, jo, and laido variations of key techniques as part of his comprehensive system. Each DVD contains two remastered programs from the 1996-97 Nishio VHS series.
2DVD One:
The first part covers the complete series of gyakuhanmi katatedori techniques. Techniques demonstrated include: kaitennage, ikkyo, nikyo, sankyo, shihonage, yonkyo, iriminage, kotegaeshi, sotomakikomi.
The second part of the Nishio Aikido videotape collection covers the entire aihanmi katatedori series in great depth. The following techniques are demonstrated and explained: kaiten joho, ikkyo, shihonage, nikyo, iriminage, kotegaeshi, sankyo.
4DVD Two:
The third part of the Nishio Aikido video series is an in-depth presentation of shomenuchi techniques. Nishio Sensei demonstrates side-escape techniques followed by explanations of shihonage, ikkyo, gokyo, irimi, and kotegaeshi. All techniques are demonstrated empty-handed and using the ken and jo.
Part four of the Nishio Aikido videotape series is the second part of the presentation of shomenuchi techniques. Covered numerous side-entry techniques, including irimi, kotegaeshi, and nikyo; the furikaburi series covers irimi, kotegaeshi, and sankyo. Finally, many applied techniques are demonstrated.
6DVD Three:
Part five of the Nishio Aikido videotape collection features numerous yokomenuchi attack techniques, including: shihonage, irimi, kotegaeshi, ken and jo, jo tai ken, ikkyo, nikyo, sankyo, gokyo, and koshinage. Nishio Sensei explains each technique in detail.
Part six of the Nishio Aikido series covers a variety of ryotedori and sodedori techniques. The techniques demonstrated are: shihonage, ikkyo ura, katate series, nagewaza, kokyunage, ikkyo, nikyo, sankyo, gyaku kime, shime, kirihanashi kotegaeshi, ken tai ken, jo and ken tai.
