Trading ideas, both manageable and scalable, abound. However, identifying the true edge poses a challenge. Enroll in our rigorous 6-week program (which actually extends over 12 months) to transition from an average trader to a professional and establish a life plan.
Throughout my life, I’ve undertaken various pursuits, but one has consumed me entirely—trading. In 1999, upon leaving the US Marine Corps, I was certain about one thing: I wanted to trade. Uncertain about the approach, I attempted to work as a broker at a brokerage firm.
Being a broker, as it turned out, involved making 200 calls a day to persuade people to invest in a grand idea, with me as their guide. Even if successful, I wouldn’t be trading but serving as a salesperson for a prestigious Wall Street firm.
In the absence of resources like YouTube and with the Internet still new in 1999, I persevered in figuring out how to become a trader. At a networking event, I encountered a fellow Marine, the CEO of a proprietary trading firm, realizing it was the opportunity I sought. Despite lacking a college degree, a requirement at the time, my determination and resourcefulness drove me to pursue this chance.
I inquired about the most challenging aspect of running his business. He revealed that everyone had great ideas but lacked the willingness to do the actual work. This was precisely what I offered—a commitment to follow instructions without questioning, working tirelessly, regardless of how tedious or challenging the task.
Being a former Marine infantryman, I was uniquely qualified for the job. Without uttering it, he instructed me to be at the office at 5 am the next morning, handing me his card to seal the deal.
Our arrangement was simple: I would handle all necessary tasks, and in return, he would impart the knowledge of trading. The first crucial lesson was constructing a trading system, presenting it with a comprehensive plan, business model, and tracking system for his review. Once satisfied, he provided me with a demo account to implement the system.
Luck played a role in my success, but early research and the systematic approach I learned contributed significantly. Over the past 24 years, I refined the process, trading at prop firms, a hedge fund, managing a hedge fund, and eventually establishing my own trading business.
In November 2022, I introduced the Trading Thunderdome, where I share and collaborate on my systematic approach to building trading systems and businesses. The aim is to create a successful, long-term trading business.
Who is this for? I seek to collaborate with experienced traders facing consistency challenges and aiming to elevate their trading to the next level. Traders with sufficient capital, recognizing gaps in their strategies, are ideal candidates. I am looking for professionals committed to refining their skills.
Who this isn’t for. To be clear, this isn’t suitable for everyone. If you’ve never traded before or cannot afford the program without going into debt, it’s not the right fit. If financial uncertainty prevents you from paying rent next month, the Thunderdome is not the solution. It’s not a shortcut to success but a platform for those genuinely seeking to elevate their trading to new heights.
