The course titled “Practical Reconciling Biomechanics with Pain Science” has been developed to provide therapists with information that simplifies the mechanical aspects of their treatment and enhances their communication and clinical reasoning skills. The aim is to present an alternative to the kinesiopathological model of pain and injury while addressing the question of when biomechanics is relevant. The course covers therapeutic neuroscience, but with a practical emphasis rather than a heavy neuroscience slant. The focus is on practical approaches to teaching patients about pain, promoting resiliency, optimism, and encouraging self-control of symptoms. The emphasis is on cognitive restructuring to address common unhelpful beliefs related to pain and injury, utilizing Pain Key Messages to bring about behavioral change.
