– Sinawalis (5th to 3rd klase) with footwork* (*closed triangles, complex pattern)
– Right and left X-sinawali with transition and footwork*
– Variations: – 2nd series of double sticks against standard sinawali (single, double, X)
– 2 vs.1, right and left against standard sinawali (single, double, X)
Defense techniques (used in modern and classic)
– Blockages
Modern single stick techniques and combinations
– Counterattacks: Abanico (2-5 hits)
– Combination: strike, punyo (butt), stab and abanico (5-7 counterattacks)
– 2nd disarming series (attacks with right and left)
– with stick
– with a flexible object (belt)
– empty hands
1st and 2nd disarming series with the stick in the other hand
Exercises
– Modern 1-1: – move to karanza and back to exercise
– change from medium to short (punyo (butt) 1-1) and back

Classic 1-1: starts at wide, goes out to karanza and comes back to 1-1
Karanza
Karanza free flowing movement using arnis footwork in multiple directions including:
– stick techniques (single stick and double stick)
– free spin (including figure 8 and double zero)
Empty hands
– Defense and accompaniments
– Principle of the 2nd set of double sticks against: – stick attack
– empty hand
– Locks (demonstrated with applications)
– central lock – lock
center standing
– shoulder lock
Drill
– Modern Drill: – with high-low swing variations #1 + #2
– shift to the left side
– Focus Glove, (Level 3): Free movement, multi hit/kick combinations, with bob and weave, blocks and cover blocks vs punches
Application with common objects (transferability)
– Demonstrate techniques from this and previous levels using flexible objects (e.g. belt, cord, towel, clothing)
Self-defense
– Quick releases: – against grapple and wrist punch of the attacker
– against bear hugs and chokes
Tasks
– stick attacks diagonally from above (resolve using techniques from 5th to 3rd klase)
– self-defense in situations defined by the examiner

Grandmaster Datu Dieter Knüttel
Dieter Knüttel, Master in Sport Science is Modern Arnis Chief Instructor for German DAV and Modern Arnis European Representative (1996-2001) of Professor Remy A. Presas.
He received the title of DATU and the rank of Lakan Anim, 6th Dan Modern Arnis from Professor Remy Presas in 1996, as 4th out of 6 people and the only person outside the US to receive this title.
After receiving his 7th, 8th and 9th Dan in the Philippines, on September 24, 2016 it was publicly announced in Dortmund, Germany that he was awarded 10th Dan, Lakan Sampu by Grandmaster Roberto Presas, 10th Dan Modern Arnis.
Dieter Knuettel has been involved in Filipino martial arts since 1978 and has been teaching FMA/Modern Arnis seminars since 1980 throughout Europe, Australia, the USA, Russia and even the Philippines.
He is one of the most experienced Arnis Modern Masters in the world.
