Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is becoming more and more popular all over the world. It was founded by Morihei Ueshiba in the early 20th century.
Aikido includes elements from different Japanese martial arts, alongside unarmed techniques, the use of sword and staff is a significant component of Aikido.
Aikido is absolutely defensive and also a highly effective method of self-defense.
In Aikido it is not about strength meeting strength.
The Aikidoka uses the attacker’s energy to incapacitate him by applying throwing and leverage techniques.
The attacker is effectively controlled without being harmed. Aikido trains the body and mind equally.
In this “Aikido from A to Z” educational film series, Grandmaster Reiner Brauhardt (8th Dan Aikido, Kyoshi) provides extensive training in all aspects of Aikido.
Starting with the first steps, the viewer is taken through multivariate techniques with and without weapons.
Reiner Brauhardt is one of the most famous Aikido masters in Europe.
As a pioneer of Aikido in Germany, he started with this martial art over 40 years ago.
Since 1985 he has been a professional Aikido instructor and runs an aikido-school in Siegen.
This second film in the “Fundamental Aikido Techniques Vol.2” educational film series showcases core throwing techniques such as shiho-nage, kote-gaeshi, irimi-nage, sumi-otoshi, and more.
The techniques are combined with the first ten forms of Aikido attack.
Thus, beginners and advanced fighters alike are given a broad introduction to the multivariate part of throwing techniques in Aikido.
