Module 1: Healing Through Nourishment — Learning to Trust Herbs & Your Body
Herbs are powerful healers and teachers. They heal through love as well as their complex chemical components.
In this opening session, we’ll focus on nourishing the ground of our being with plants and everyday rituals through herbal infusions and foot baths.
We and the Earth are mostly made up of water, so water-based medicines are a primary way to receive the greatest benefits from the herbs you ingest, whether you’re drinking them or steeping your feet in them.
We’ll begin with nettles and red clover, as they’re two of the most common, yet precious, supportive herbs in the world. You’ll explore the benefits of getting to know, respect, and love weeds/wildflowers, as well as the differences between a cup of tea and a medicinal infusion.
We’ll open with a centering meditation to help bring everyone into themselves and finish with a grounding meditation to bring us into a deeper connection with the Earth.
Module 2: Autumn Equinox & Seasonal Tonics — The Dynamic Dance of the Seasons
You’ll explore the framework of the primary solar holidays that make up the Wheel of the Year.
Autumn is Witch’s Thanksgiving, and for Green Witches, this is the ultimate time of expressing gratitude for all the gifts that Nature provides.
We’ll focus on the herbs oatstraw (avena sativa ) and mullein (verbascum thapsus), exploring the abundant array of physical and spiritual gifts that these two plants offer.
We’ll discuss a variety of ways to receive their benefits, from teas to full-strength infusions to how to make a medicinal-strength full-body bath, to smoking dried mullein, and more.
Together we’ll do a moving meditation/ritual of becoming oatstraw so you can experience for yourself how this plant teaches the strength that’s found in fluidity.
Module 3: Moon Rituals — New to Full & the Phases in Between — Traveling the Inner Pathways of the Lunar Spiral
In this class, we meet under a waxing crescent moon in the Northern Hemisphere, and we’ll explore the power of the inner psychic journey that we embark upon every month.
Living in a solar-oriented culture, the Divine Feminine energy of the moon has been submerged. When we fully reclaim this magic, our spiritual and physical health will benefit, along with the health of our world at large.
We’ll work with mugwort/cronewort (artemisia vulgaris), a plant famous for helping open the third eye (which Robin Rose calls the first eye).
Mugwort is a systemic healer, strengthening virtually every system of the body. When working psychically, it’s vital to stay attuned to physical wellbeing, so we’ll explore how this common roadside weed is really pure magic.
Module 4: Joy & the Cardiovascular System — Learning to Take Care of Our Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Hearts
Your heart reflects the core essence of who you are in your soul.
Joy is the heart’s most profound medicine, and yet it’s not always easy to claim and feel joy in this time of relentless challenges both in the world and in our own lives.
How can herbs help? The heart and circulatory system offer a profound metaphor of the human condition of giving and receiving, emptying and filling.
Robin Rose will guide you through a meditative journey through the workings of your cardiovascular system to illuminate the magic that’s going on inside your precious body every moment of your life.
You’ll explore the amazing gifts of three wondrous trees: hawthorn — her berries, blossoms, leaves, and thorns — linden blossoms, and elderberries and blossoms. You’ll learn how to make medicines from these trees, and explore several recipes for elderberry elixirs.
Module 5: Resilience, Stability & the Nervous System — Herbal Medicine & Earth Connection Practices
Your nervous system holds the key to being able to engage fully in your life.
Herbal medicine and simple rituals aid enormously in being able to move through these times of evolutionary transformation with more emotional ease, greater mental clarity, and physical and spiritual peace.
Nervines can help with pain relief, deep sleep, and clear skin. We’ll hone in on the gifts of sedating skullcap (scutellaria lateriflora), uplifting St. John’s/Joan’s wort (hypericum perforatum), and anxiety-calming motherwort (leonurus cardiaca), the lion-hearted one.
We’ll also touch on the gifts of violet, who helps us feel our grief so we can hold it inside the larger container of our natural joy.
We’ll look at tinctures, what they are, how to make them with fresh and dry herbs, and why and when to use them.
We’ll engage in a simple meditation and ritual application of St. John’s wort oil. As always, you can use a different herbal oil such as lavender or rose if you don’t have access to the one suggested.
Module 6: Digestive Health — Ingestion, Assimilation & Elimination
In this class, we’ll focus on herbs that help digest food, and in some cases are food. We’ll look into chamomile, a variety of basils, dandelion, and burdock medicines.
These herbs not only help with physical digestion, they can help us digest and assimilate our life experiences, eliminating what doesn’t serve us.
Herbs can help as antispasmodics, soothers, relievers of gas, and strengtheners of the liver, supporting bile production. No diet is right for everyone. This system invites you to become aware of what does and doesn’t serve you.
Module 7: Rituals, Spiraling Cycles & Ritual Herbs — Daily & Spontaneous Rituals, Preparation for Samhain & New Moon Ritual Meditation
In the closing session, you’ll explore herbs that can help you deepen your intuitive awareness and cultivate inner wisdom. We’ll dive into white pine (pinus strobus ) medicine, roses (rosa spp.), grandmother cedar (thuja occidentale), and more.
Halloween/Samhain is the Witch’s new year, the most profound holy day of the year, when the veils between the worlds are thin.
You’ll connect with ginkgo biloba in meditation in preparation for this Earth holiday. Robin Rose will also share about ways to incorporate simple, yet profound rituals into everyday life, as a helpful way to incorporate the reality of magic into your every waking moment.
We’ll conclude with a new moon ritual marking the ending/death of one cycle of learning together, and celebrating the birth of the new cycle of growth and evolutionary transformation.
