Description
Considered by many to be the most human of all fighting arts, aiki-do was founded by the great Japanese master Morihei Ueshiba. Ueshiba spent his life devoted to the ancient arts of jujutsu. His art consists of highly effective joint locks, pressure points, leverage, balance and throwing techniques that require minimal effort to produce maximum results.
The fact that law enforcement agencies around the world have since adopted and incorporated aiki-do into their training curriculum is a testament to the effectiveness of the apprehension and restraint techniques of this art in this five-volume DVD series presented by the experts at Black Belt Magazine, Sam Combes sensei – a retired police officer who holds a 6th degree black belt from the Yoshinkai Aiki-do Institute in Japan – teaches kata, self-defense techniques and weaponry that form the cornerstone of this art.
In the fourth volume of the DVD collection, Combes teaches more self-defense techniques, including chokes and parries and defending against face attacks. Topics also include: happo giri, jushichi no jo (short staff) kata, and application of jo kata (with and without the staff).
