Obviously the footwoork needs to be adapted depending on what you practice, but the striking principles remain the same and…the dirty boxing part is like a MMA tutorial (reminded me of Jones vs Texeira).

Familton was one of those old school boxers who knew how to make every punch count and understood how valuable fundamentals are for somebody who knows how to use them.

Also, every time you wanna do some very interesting and complex technique during sparring…set it up with some jabs….and then some more jabs.

Kickboxing, Muay-Thai, MMA, Boxing, almost every single contact martial art that involves striking uses punches and of those the most important are the jab and the straight (the hook is also very important but you don’t lead with that one).

There’s no magic, no amazing superpunch, no touch of death, just the classics that opens the doors for many, many combinations.

An excellent complement for this great book.

And remember…the shortest distance between two points is always a straight line…so work on that jab and the straight punch and please move your head every time you punch, your brain will certainly appreciate it.
