Sonkete style is a pushing and prodding style that uses hard weapons like bolo, panabas or baton (stick).

In this style, the escrimador thrusts his weapon into an opening in the opponent’s guard.

This is done in several ways. First, you can deflect the opponent’s weapon with your left hand and thrust your weapon into the opening created.

Second, you can block the oncoming weapon and slide your own weapon along the opponent’s until the point of yours makes contact with the opponent’s body.

In any case, to make this style effective, the scrimator must use dodge to evade the oncoming attack.
